Production and refinement

This Sassato comes from Sangiovese grapes, strictly hand-harvested in crates, with careful selection of the finest clusters.

After gentle crushing and destemming, the wine ferments at controlled temperature in stainless steel, preserving freshness and fruit aromas, and is then further aged in the bottle before release. The result is a wine with great persistence and harmony, fully expressing the characteristics of Sangiovese and the Scansano terroir.

Provveditore

Provveditore estate is passionately and dedicatedly managed by the Bargagli family, who for three generations have been producing expressive wines of great character, fully highlighting the qualities of the land and its grape varieties. The vineyards cover approximately 30 hectares, primarily planted with Sangiovese and Trebbiano Toscano, among the most appreciated and widespread varieties in the Maremma, a region particularly suited to viticulture.

Located near the town of Scansano, in southwestern Tuscany, the estate stretches across the green Maremma hills, with views of Monte Amiata and the Argentario Coast. The history of the estate is marked by pioneering insight: in the early 1970s, Alessandro Bargagli decided to bottle his Morellino di Scansano himself rather than sell it in bulk, paving the way for a quality-focused production that continues to define the estate today.

Provveditore

Today, the estate is managed by Cristina, daughter of Alessandro, who emphasizes generational synergy to combine Tradition and Innovation at every stage of production. This approach allows the preservation of classical family techniques while enhancing modern winemaking knowledge, resulting in wines that are distinctive, elegant, and deeply connected to their terroir.

The result is wines of great structure and persistence, with a balance between freshness, fruit, and soft tannins, fully expressing the characteristics of Sangiovese grown on these rich and complex soils.

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of the most important Italian regions for wine, famous worldwide for its renowned labels. Here, wine truly has been part of history and culture for centuries, as far back as the 14th century with the establishment of the "Lega dei Vinattieri" (Wine Merchants Guild).
The Tuscan landscape also tells the story of the territory's strong winemaking vocation: from the hills of Chianti and the Etruscan Coast to the panoramas of Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana, kilometers of splendid vineyards stretch out before our eyes, producing excellent wines.

Tuscany is one of Italy's most suitable regions for the production of quality wines and has conquered world markets since the 1980s. Bathed by the Ligurian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea, it has predominantly hilly terrain with a temperate climate, mild winters, and cool summers.
The various types of grapevines cultivated in Tuscany are greatly influenced by the soil on which they grow, ranging from sandy soils in the west to tuffaceous soils, and even clayey and calcareous soils.
A special mention goes to "galestro," a type of local soil that also gives its name to a wine from the Chianti area.

Scansano

Scansano is a great land of wine, home of the very famous Morellino.
The soils here are very varied: in the western part there are arenaceous soils of the macigno or pietraforte type, while in the eastern part, at the limestone and clay formations, it appears more articulated and tormented.

The soils are in general not very deep, with a rocky substrate in several cases outcropping, but nevertheless allowing the production of wines recognized in the national and international scene.

The Morellino di Scansano DOCG appellation is reserved for wines made with grapes from sangiovese (here called Morellino) for at least 85 percent and other black grapes, non-aromatic.
The grapes must be grown in the hilly strip of the province of Grosseto between the Ombrone and Albegna rivers, which includes the entire municipality of Scansano and part of the municipal territories of Manciano, Magliano in Toscana, Grosseto, Campagnatico, Semproniano and Roccalbegna, in the province of Grosseto.

Scansano, land of the famous Morellino, offers varied soils including limestone and clay, producing wines of nationally and internationally recognized quality.
