Production and refinement

This Marzemino grows on loose, well-drained soils, which impart minerality and fragrance. Harvest usually takes place in the second half of September, strictly by hand to preserve the integrity of the grapes.

In the cellar, vinification follows traditional methods: skin maceration in steel to extract color and aromas, and aging also in steel, a choice that preserves the immediacy of the fruit and the floral fragrance typical of the variety.

Organoleptic analysis

Visual exam

It has a ruby color with violet reflections, typical of the grape variety.

Olfactory examination

On the nose, it is an explosion of red and black fruit, with a lovely note of rose and violet—super juicy!

Tasting

On the palate, it is round, with a rather slender body given by the medium alcohol and medium-high acidity, gentle and refreshing, which highlights its immediate and playful drinkability. The tannins are soft and silky, contributing to the juicy taste and fruity finish.

Grigoletti

There is the grandfather in the vineyard, taking care of the land, the father in the cellar, overseeing vinification. Then the mother in the showroom managing sales, and the children studying to one day take over the reins of the estate.

You can feel the family atmosphere when you step into this small winery on the banks of the Adige, in Vallagarina. The estate cultivates native grape varieties such as Marzemino, as well as international ones like Merlot and Chardonnay.

Grigoletti

Here you really feel at home, because when Carmelo pours us a glass of Marzemino and talks about the sacrifices and passion behind his wines, he smiles, but his eyes glisten—proof of someone who knows what lies behind a single glass.

Grigoletti wines are genuinely honest. They are the happiest and most approachable I’ve tasted in the Vallagarina subzone. Wines that never bore, juicy and fruity, yet light. Their flagship is exactly that: a Marzemino to enjoy on its own or alongside a tasty speck sandwich, perfect for a picnic in the green, sunlit valleys of Trentino.

Region and territory

Trentino Alto Adige

Trentino Alto Adige is a region entirely mountainous and divided into the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano, whose border marks a linguistic and administrative watershed.

The attention of wineries and heroic viticulture ensures a consistently high quality level of wines, and particularly the best results are achieved with grapes that thrive in cold climates, such as Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, which here express their varietal characteristics at their best. In addition to the many international varieties, the region also boasts an interesting heritage of native grapes, including Teroldego, Schiava, and Lagrein.

Although it would be difficult to draw a morphological boundary between the two areas geographically, ethnic and linguistic differences on one hand and pedoclimatic differences on the other have also led, over the centuries, to a provincial characterization of wine production.

Both areas, however, share an excellent wine production, thanks also to the geographic position and favorable climatic conditions along the Adige Valley and on the slopes of the mountains that line it, as well as in the flat and hilly areas around Trento and Bolzano.

Trento

The Trento area, in addition to its Trento DOC sparkling wines, is famous for its elegant white wines, typical of grape cultivation in high-altitude terrain.

This territory is distinguished by elegant wines that express a unique concept of territoriality. The success and peculiarity of Trento DOC sparkling wine are due precisely to the characteristics of the territory: the combination of climate, different altitudes, terrain, and Trentino know-how make it not just a simple sparkling wine, but a highly esteemed mountain sparkling wine, increasingly recognized and awarded.

Despite its small size, the Trentino region is covered with 10,000 hectares of vineyards, with a percentage of grapes destined for sparkling wine production accounting for 8% and an annual production of 7 million bottles.

The vineyards benefit from different climates: from a mountain microclimate to the milder one of Lake Garda. Factors such as vineyard altitude and temperature variation play an important role in grape ripening, influencing the organoleptic characteristics of the wines.

The varieties cultivated for Trento DOC sparkling wine are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The area of organic vineyards in Trentino is steadily increasing, a natural consequence of the attention and responsibility of sparkling wine producers towards product healthiness.

Trentino, the homeland of Trento DOC bubbles, offers elegant and unique white wines, the result of cultivation in high-altitude areas and Trentino know-how, expressing the richness of the territory in every sip.

Recommended pairings and dishes

Matching by concordance

It should be paired by analogy in terms of body and aromatic profile: with intensely fragrant, medium-bodied dishes. An explosion of fruit, and to highlight its lively, fruity texture, it should be matched with equally aromatic dishes.

Matching by contrast

To enhance its freshness, it balances the slight richness and oily tendency of dishes such as stew or fried foods. The acidity cleanses the palate and prepares it for the next sip.

It pairs well with

Hearty main courses such as Storo polenta with mixed mushrooms, stewed meats, cured meats, and aged cheeses; also excellent with white meats and rustic recipes, it fully expresses its convivial character. Try it with a salami sandwich!

Venison with Polenta

A dish with a bold and authentic flavor, spectacular when served with polenta and caramelized onions. Also worth trying in the soft and refined version with fillet.

Fried Mushrooms

Fried mushrooms are a dish as simple as it is appetizing, perfect to serve in autumn as a tasty appetizer or substantial side dish: fragrant, flavorful, and very pleasant.
